Depending on the number of PhD students participating, other LTU employees or PhD students at other universities may also participate. Intended learning outcomes: At the end of the course, the postgraduate will Be acquainted with the process of submitting a paper for reviewed publication Be able to demonstrate knowledge of the ethical issues of publication Demonstrate knowledge of the main writing problems novice academic writers face, identify problems in their own writing and have strategies for resolving those problems Be able to outline the main ways in which writing in Academic English differs from academic writing in at least one other language Be able to find information about how to correct grammatical errors Write an academic article in English which is both grammatically accurate and easy to read Course contents: The goal of this course is to support postgraduate students as they write their first academic article in English. Postgraduates should already have a general command of English before they begin this course. During the course, they will submit sections of their paper for detailed written feedback. The final assignment is the completed article. A draft of this can be discussed 1:1 with the teacher. The reading for this course is primarily the literature for the article. Short texts on aspects of writing will be placed in Fronter. Literature on writing will be selected from a variety of sources and placed in Fronter.
