Sept 14 - 18, 2015 Focus for the Week Unit: Nursery Rhymes Letter: Jj, Ww, Ee, Ii, Gg Words: to Language Arts: -Our main lesson focus for the month of September is identifying characters and setting in various read aloud books. Updates for the Week - Sept. 14 Running Club starts - Sept. 18 Fall Festival ( 5:00 – 7:30) BLUE OUT DAY-wear blue!!! -You must be in the classroom by 7:45 in order to eat breakfast. Box Tops We collect Box Tops for Education to raise -Spend a few minutes each week reviewing alphabet money for our school. Please save box tops from letters and word wall words so your child begins to participating General Mills and Betty Crocker products and send them to school in your child’s folder. Thank you readily recognize all letters and word wall words. for your support! -Have your child practice writing their name with only 1 capital letter and all the rest of the letters lowercase. Math: Position & Location of Shapes 2D shapes (identify and describe) (circle, square, rectangle, triangle, hexagon) We will also continue to focus on counting and writing numbers 0-20. Students who are able and ready to count further will be encouraged to do so. Homework for the Week: Math: Ten Frame Activities. Enclosed you will find a baggie with Ten Frames and numbers. An instruction sheet is provided. This should be completed nightly. All skills are essential to building number sense for higher order math skills. ELA: A new instruction sheet has been added to your child’s letter bag. Please keep all letters in the appropriate bags and return to school daily. Students should use the letters to complete activities EVERY SINGLE NIGHT. This is not something that should be done once and then put away for the week. Repetition is the key to building fluency.
