October 19 - 23 Focus for the Week Unit: Transportation Review Mm, Nn, Oo, Pp Words: the Language Arts: Review alphabet letters and word wall words. Your child should be able to read these sight words to you: me, see, a, can, he, she, to , see, yes, no, go, and the Guided Reading Books: read every day, make it fun, praise them, and read the hard parts together. Updates for the Week Oct 19 – 23 Red Ribbon Week Monday wear red, Tuesday wear camo Wednesday wacky, tacky clothes, Thursday wear your class shirt/ or class color for the field trip and Friday wear your favorite hat or cap Thurs., Oct. 22 Field Trip wear your class shirt and tennis shoes Have your child draw a picture about their day and then describe the picture to you. Play word games like I Spy, sing songs and make up silly rhymes together. Math: Using a deck of cards compare numbers using the terms greater than (>), less than (<) and equal (=). Dice and dominos can also be used as addition games (challenge activities). Science: We will be talking about the life cycle of pumpkins. If you have a pumpkin at home let your child be a Pumpkin Detective. Let them use their 5 senses to observe how the pumpkin looks, smells, feels and maybe even how it taste (pumpkin pie is always yummy ). Tuesday Homework for the Week: Wednesday Math: Ten Frames. This week your child will practice identifying and counting ten frames with teen numbers. Teen numbers are tricky so make sure you practice every night. Thursday ELA: Word Wall Words. Use the letters given to make the word wall words. Practice making and reading the words every day. Have your child make up sentences using the words. (Challenge - write sentences using the words.) .
