CALL TO ORDER
Becky Swearingen called the meeting to order at 3:35 p.m. Members were introduced.
II.
OLD BUSINESS
Minutes from the April 9, 2014 meeting were reviewed. Darryl Clark moved to approve the
minutes; Pedro Koo seconded the motion. All approved; motion carried.
Update on assessment: Working this summer on the guide for putting together the materials.
Information will be provided at the September meeting.
III.
NEW BUSINESS
Sharmistha Self began conducting the meeting and stated that Becky Swearingen would be
willing to chair the meeting again. Becky stated that she could not be available to attend the
senate meetings and would like someone to attend Faculty Senate meetings in her place.
Andrew Johnson would cover in the spring. Tom Altena could possibly attend once in a while in
the fall and Becky Swearingen could do it if needed too. No other nominations were made and
Becky will be the chair for 14-15 academic year.
Program Change
Bachelor of Arts Fine Arts Requirement: WD Blackmon gave an overview of the
proposal. Joe Hughes moved to approve; Ben Timson seconded the motion. All
approved; motion carried.
Creative Writing Minor BA, BFA, BS: WD Blackmon gave an overview of the proposal.
Ben Timson moved to accept the proposal. Joe Hughes seconded the motion. All
approved; motion carried.
BS Child and Family Development: This was pulled from the agenda. It did not need to
be reviewed by CGEIP.
Gender Studies Minor: Victor Matthews gave an overview of the proposal. Corrections were
made to the catalog description. Joe Hughes moved to accept; Ben Timson seconded the
motion. All approved; the motion carried.
Latin American Studies Minor: Victor Matthews gave an overview of the proposal. Corrections
were made to the catalog description. Ben Timson moved to approve the proposal; Tom Altena
seconded the motion. All approved; motion carried.
Military Science Minor: Shelly Griese gave an overview of the proposal. Joe Hughes moved to
accept; Darryl Clark seconded the motion. There was discussion. All approved; motion carried.
Darryl Clark moved to adjourn; Tom Altena seconded the motion. All approved; motion carried.
