LESSON PLAN FOR WHOLE CLASS GAME CUBE NETS This activity will allow students to visualize, verbalize and come to a consensus on foldable shapes that will create a cube. To make the competition engaging for the class, the class will be divided into teams. Teams of 8 would probably be a maximum. Link to the activity: http://illuminations.nctm.org/ActivityDetail.aspx?ID=84 This is the screen the students will be working from. This page should be duplicated for the students. DIRECTIONS: You will be given a time limit of 3 to 5 minutes to decide which of the shapes above can fold into cubes. You will have to manipulate the shapes in your mind and debate with your teammates which ones will work. Shade in the shapes you believe will work. EXAMPLE OF A CUBE NET THAT FOLDS PROPERLY After teams have committed to their answers, they can come up to the main computer and click on shapes they believe will work. Students earn 2 points for each one they correctly identify.,
