CONÍMBRIGA, MONTEMOR-O-VELHO & SANDELGAS (half day with dinner)

Romans built a city in the 1st century BC; the visit will include the Museum whose important collection helps us to imagine the occupations and beliefs of the inhabitants of this city, from the Iron Age to the Christian era. HALF DAY TOUR OF COIMBRA
The vast complex of buildings of the old University, dating from 1292, dominates the whole city. Visit to the 18th century Library, one of the most important buildings in the University; its shelves are adorned with very fine carvings. Visit to the Chapel of São Miguel, excellent example of Manueline art. The tour continues to the Sé Velha (Old Cathedral), built in 1160 in the Romanesque style and with a fine later cloister in Gothic style.
Visit to the Monastery of Santa Clara-a-Nova, situated on the hill that dominates the south bank of the river Mondego. Work on the monastery began in 1649 and it was concluded 50 years later. It was designed to replace the old monastery of Santa Clara-a-Velha which was threatened by the constant flooding of the river.

HALF DAY TOUR OF LUSO AND BUSSACO
Luso and Bussaco lie on the foothills of the Serra do Bussaco, north of Coimbra. Here we will visit the 18th century Convent that formerly belonged to the Order of the Barefoot
Carmelites, of which only the church and their private quarters remain. A series of small chapels, known as the Penitential Hermitages or Chapels of the Steps dating from the 17th century lead us up the wooded hillside. The visit will include the Grande Hotel do Bussaco, a very fine neo-Manueline building from the late 19th century, designed by the architect
Manini. The tour will continue to Luso and a visit to the Spa. Return to Coimbra.

FULL DAY TOUR OF FÁTIMA, BATALHA & ALCOBAÇA
Departure from Coimbra to the Sanctuary of Fátima were we can appreciate all the religious ambience of the Sanctuary. The tour continues to the village of Batalha where we can visit the Monastery of the XV century. Lunch at a typical restaurant in the village of Aljubarrota.
Afterwards, departure to Alcobaça and visit of the Monastery. Return to Coimbra.
