This year’s data indicated a drop in rating for student access to internet-connected multimedia computers (I-1). As more teachers integrate technology into classroom instruction, the access to computers in our two existing labs becomes problematic. Star Chart data did show an increase from “developing” to “advanced” in three areas: (TL-2) Teachers are attempting to provide students more access to computers as they increasing their use of digital technology in the classroom; (L-4) The campus is utilizing information systems and tools for communication, management of resources, and access to relevant student data; (L-5) The administration has allocated the use of discretionary funds to support campus technology needs and initiatives. Campus Tech Plan 2008-2009 5 of 17 Austin High School Department of Instructional Technology Future Vision and Direction -Teachers will integrate technology and instruction more effectively as access to computers increases. The creation of an additional computer lab area and/or access to wireless mobile computer carts is essential. -Teachers will utilize one or more technologies from the “Intelligent Classroom” model to deliver instruction. All students will utilize “Intelligent Classroom” technologies to facilitate learning. (Intelligent Classroom technology includes, but is not limited to, student response systems, Inter-Write tablet, LCD projector, 2 Mobile Computer Carts, Smart Board, document camera, teacher laptop). - Classrooms will be upgraded with current technology, such as ceiling mounted LCD projectors, laptops, and document cameras. Core departments will acquire mobile computer carts to increase student access to internet connected multimedia computers.
