Zavala Elementary Department of Instructional Technology Zavala Elementary Instructional Technology Implementation Plan 2008-2009 The Campus Technology Committee has developed this Technology Plan. It is aligned with the Austin ISD Technology Plan and the State Long Range Plan for Technology. The campus strategies focus on goals and objectives related to Teaching and Learning and Educator Staff Development. Most classrooms have at least 3 computers, more for the higher grades. We have some rooms that have less than 3 but we are hoping to redistribute some from classrooms that have more. We do have several white Microsoft 2000 that are starting to die. Our cow cart is not being used because the computers are old and hard to use. We have also been trying to get reading counts to work this year and were unsuccessful. We need to either get the program fixed or start looking into getting a new program. We also struggle with teachers being comfortable using technology. We hope to fix this problem by having a small technology committee that is made up of a member from every grade level and some support staff. The technology committee will focus on implementing the Technology TEKS at every grade level coming up with a project for each grade to do. We will also learn how to set up learning.com accounts and go back to out grade level and do it for them. It will be required to be used and will be monitored by the ITRC. The Tech committee will also meet about the rollout, tech report, and fund raising. Campus Tech Plan 2007-2008 5 of 18 Zavala Elementary Department of Instructional Technology Future Vision and Direction In three years, I would love for technology to have more of a role at Zavala. I would love for every teacher or grade level to have a technology project that they work on during the year and present to the rest of the school. I would like to have more mobile carts that teachers and students use more often in their classroom all the way down to 1st grade. I would also like for our technology assessment grades to exhibit that our teachers are adopting the technology TEKS as much as the other TEKS. I would also like to have a part time or full time computer teacher that was in charge of the computer lab and collaborated with the teachers/grade levels to come up with projects that they could work on that are aligned with the TEKS. I also hope that teachers will be more confident with technology so that they are not afraid to incorporate it more in their classes.
