Summary of current technology needs on our campus:
We, the educators at Becker Elementary, are very grateful for our technological resources. We feel that we are very blessed when it
comes to such resources. However, we believe there are many items which could help us better serve our students: The acquisition of
additional computer projectors could assist us in more seamlessly integrating technology into our daily classroom instruction. Laptops
designated for teacher use could also fundamentally change the experience and use of technology on our campus, as we feel that
teachers would be enabled to streamline and increase the efficiency of our technology integration, as well as keep up with daily
technology needs (e.g., decreasing email inundation and working off-site). A few more DVD/CD burners could also support teachers
with their own special class projects. More time for educator development in integrating technology, as well as time to plan for such
integration would be remarkable helpful. More funding for our ITRC could help meet our campus needs and goals, since this could
increase our opportunities for more improved training and increased technology assistance. Further, we do have several computers
that are declining as they age, and lately many of our older computers (i.e., indigo iMacs) have been declared EoL. We have been
replacing some of these computers in classrooms by shuffling around machines between teachers; though, lately, this has proven
rather difficult and will be, eventually, impossible. We will, ultimately, need funding to replace our EoL computers. As a final
concern, we are mostly a Mac campus and the utilization of electronic grade reporting (especially for bilingual reports) could be
improved by the acquisition of more PCs. We remain hopeful that our technology needs will be met with improved funding.

Staff Development Needs
As evidenced by our campus STaR Chart data, we consider ourselves advanced in many areas, but most strikingly in Teaching and
Learning and Educator Preparation and Development, with the exception of online learning. Still, we could utilize more educator
development focusing on the successful integration of technology into the core content curriculum areas. If time could be freed up
during district staff development days—especially, if AISD could prioritize technology integration by including and scheduling it
during district-wide staff development time—that could help us emphasize the importance of such integration and, hopefully, meet
our campus needs. Offering stipends for after-school professional development sessions—even those held on campus—concerning
technology integration into the core content areas would also probably prove helpful in increasing educator attendance and, hopefully,
technology utilization. It is evident that our ratings slipped this year concerning Leadership, Administration, and Instructional

Support when compared with our previous year’s school. While disheartening, it has been a difficult year at Becker in many ways;
and due to below average MoY benchmark scores, the staff definitely took on extra duties campus-wide in helping our intermediate
students focus on core content. This may have shifted the campus’s focus to very, very specific objectives for the most of the secondhalf of the school year. Hopefully, by next year, we can restore our campus’s vitality and energy in all areas, and thereby, improve
everyone’s self-rating of our technology levels, toward more Advanced and Target Levels.
Future Vision and Direction
In two years, we, at Becker Elementary, aspire to honestly rate and consider ourselves as more advanced in technology integration in
two crucial areas:
First, we hope to enable and support educators in utilizing technology systems (e.g., AIMS and District Power, for instance) to
access, examine, and analyze student assessment data in order to support sound, data-driven instructional decision-making and
planning, so as to better serve all of the students on our campus.
Secondly, we also hope to enable and support educators as they successfully and seamlessly integrate technology into the core
content areas—integration that proves meaningful, authentic, empowering and real-world applicable to support and truly enhance
student learning and understanding of core content and technology’s role in real-world issues and problem solving. We envision
students engaged in real inquiry, in real-time, with teachers utilizing best practices.
