Five or more aging G3 macs are still in use. The majority of computers are emacs and almost all except four or so have had their logic boards replaced where called for by apple. Some applications in use are still OS9 and will not function on the new imacs including IGPRO and primary grade level applications. There is a need for an OS10 shapes program. Art is looking into purchasing animation software like Pixie. More TEKS oriented software is in need for primary grade levels and beyond. Additional Classroom technology and for the lab including smart boards could be helpful. The capabilities of educators should be improved through additional training and augmented by support staff. Online learning could be streamlined and organized for teachers and students at the district level beyond the knowledge portal using an interactive classroom subject and TEKS oriented database. Additional professional development for online classes covering technology in education and offering student extended learning could boost student and teacher involvement and output. Future Vision and Direction (Brief statement describing where your campus would like to be in three years related to technology integration. ) In three years we hope to have more smart boards including one for the computer lab. We hope to be better supported at the district level in regard to our technology with a technology facilitator assigned to our campus and a greater availability of online Campus Tech Plan 2008-2009 5 of 16 Barton Hills Elementary Department of Instructional Technology Educational tools and databases geared specifically towards elementary instruction and subject area coverage. We also hope to replace all remaining printers and computers reaching EOL. We hope to replace all OS9 software with comparable and improved software for all grade levels including purchasing a new shapes program and an animation program for Art. Replacing OS9 software is particularly applicable to the primary grades and would apply to all programs in the primary folder.
