Campus Tech Support
Our campus does not have a paid campus tech. The ITRC and other teachers volunteer to support campus technology and we rely on
the district techs to help. Typical HEAT ticket response time varies according to the time of year, from one week up to four weeks or
more.
I.T. facilitators and district techs could best support the needs of Rodriguez Elementary campus by recognizing the following:









The need to speed up HEAT ticket response time
Teachers need to be trained on software such as learning.com, Kidspiration, Comic Life, Atomic Learning, Typing.com
Teachers need to be trained to incorporate United Streaming into lesson plans including downloading clips into Power Points
Teachers need to allot daily time for their students to interact Learning.com
Teachers need to be trained on how to use hardware to support the above software such as hooking up and operating DVD
players, LCD projectors, AV Convertors, Elmos
Teachers need to be required to attend at least two half day mandatory campus in-service technology workshops on campus
lead by the IT Facilitator
Teachers need to know how to access library online catalog and District databases that are accessible at school/home and local
area networks
Teachers need to encourage students to access these databases and others in the classroom, at home, and from a public library
New teachers to AISD need to be properly trained on Gradespeed
Future Vision and Direction
Three years from now at Rodriguez Elementary, you will see teachers using their laptops on a regular basis to collaborate, create and
communicate. Some classrooms will have integrated multimedia systems with document cameras and other interactive tools. Many
curriculum resources will be available online.
The following points summarize the specific needs of Rodriguez Elementary:

Campus Improvement Plan Alignment
One of our goals this year is for the K-5th grade teachers to implement Learning.com throughout the year for students to master the
lessons at their appropriate grade level. This aligns with our campus improvement plan to increase mastery of writing TAKS
objectives to 90%. Another goal for this year is for the 1st -5th grade teachers to implement Scholastic Reading Counts throughout the
year for students to developing stronger reading skills. This aligns with our campus improvement plan to increase mastery of reading
TAKS objectives to 90%.
