Pillow Elementary Department of Instructional Technology Pillow Elementary School Instructional Technology Implementation Plan 2009-2010 The Campus Technology Committee has developed this Technology Plan. It is aligned with the Austin ISD Technology Plan and the State Long Range Plan for Technology and our Campus Improvement Plan. The strategies focus on goals and objectives related to Teaching and Learning and Educator Staff Development specifically related to the use of technology. Teachers are frustrated by the lack of reliable technology resources, but make the effort to use what is at their disposal. Lack of time for training, planning and implementation is also a critical issue. Our computer lab is finally operational, and a weekly schedule is in place to ensure that teachers frequent the lab. The biggest concern on our campus is the lack of on-campus technology support. The needs of our staff are met primarily through the assistance of tech savvy classroom teachers. We have a Technology Committee, with one representative serving from each grade level. Each representative is charged with helping the members of their grade level with tech concerns. If they can’t help, they pass the problem on to the ITRCs (both of whom are 1st grade classroom teachers). Campus Tech Plan 2009-2010 5 of 10 Pillow Elementary Department of Instructional Technology Future Vision and Direction We believe that technology would be more seamlessly integrated if we had campus technology support personnel. With our computer lab up and running, the coming years should have the majority of teachers utilizing the lab weekly, if not more often. Ideally, this increased access to regular computer time will help improve student computer literacy, and will lead to improved TLA scores. However, because the student-use computers in classrooms are virtually EOL, daily access to computers is still limited. We will continue to replace outdated computers as we have the funds to do so. With the laptops received in Spring 2009, we will be able to move some computers from teacher use to student use. In three years, our campus would like to integrate technology through but not limited to: … exploring the financial possibility of a computer teacher /tech to help teachers integrate technology into planning and provide instructional updates to teachers …the installation and daily use of Innovation Stations in all classrooms …use of technology web resources, such as UnitedStreaming, Learning.com, BrainPop, and district info databases …continuous updating of EOL computers, as funds allow … integration of technology to support our 5th graders in meeting or exceeding the TLA proficiency standard …weekly visits to the computer lab for all classes Campus Improvement Plan Alignment The following goals and objectives are taken from the Austin ISD District Technology Plan. Campuses will focus on four objectives from Goal 1 and four objectives from Goal 2. Campuses may choose to include additional objectives in their Campus Tech Plan.
