Summary of current technology needs on our campus:
Houston Elementary is a very large campus with a main building, 22 portable classrooms and 2 additional wings. At the present time, we have 2 printers per pod in the main building, 3in each wing, and 1 printer per 2 portable classrooms. These printers are at least 9 years old and have already begun to wear down. Our need is to have at least 4 new printers purchased for our 53 classrooms. Half of the desktop computers (G-3s and IMacs) in the classrooms are also at least 9 years old, so they will undoubtedly start going out soon.
1 computer lab is not sufficient for current or future needs of a campus the size of Houston Elementary. We still need COW’s for the students to use inside classrooms to supplement the lab

Staff Development Needs
Our Star Chart data indicates that we are at a Level 2 (Developing Tech), mainly due to the lack of time for professional development, which, in turn, means lack of expertise in using technology with our students. Since every teacher has received a new laptop, we need stipends to encourage teachers to take advantage of training opportunities that will show them how to use technology as a tool for enhancing higher-order thinking skills. We need time for teachers to write lesson plans (make and take sessions) which will help them integrate technology in their subject area TEKS.
Future Vision and Direction
In three years, at least half of the staff at Houston Elementary will have completed 30 or more hours of professional development on integration of technology. With every teacher having a new laptop, teachers will be better able to regularly include technology skills in planning and implementing instruction by using strategies that facilitate student-led learning experiences. This, in turn, will develop our students' higher order thinking skills and opportunities for collaboration with content experts, peers, parents, and community. With the new Innovation stations that some of our teachers will be receiving, this will better help our TAKS grade classrooms to
