Pontiac’s Rebellion (War):
The French had moved out of the Ohio River Valley and the colonists begin crossing the Appalachian
Mountains to claim new land. The Native Americans, however, had not left the Ohio River Valley. A Native American by the name of Pontiac united various tribes together to fight against these English colonists taking over their land. This became known as Pontiac’s Rebellion (War). The English government could not afford a war with the Native Americans at this time so the
Proclamation of 1763 was passed and it told the colonists they could NOT cross the Appalachian Mountains.
