During the accreditation visit, there were a number of conversations between evaluation team and LOC members. The team acknowledged that Palomar’s SLOAC work is unique, but authentic. Berta mentioned that we should applaud our progress on SLOACs but recognize that there is still work to be done. The ACCJC annual report is due to the Commission on March 31, 2015. Berta encouraged faculty to contact SLO coordinators with any questions regarding the report or with any success stories for contribution to the narrative components of the annual report. 4. Program SLOs in the Catalog Beginning Fall 2016, program outcomes will appear in both the print and online versions of the college catalog. SLOAC facilitators of each department should review program SLOs and forward them to their respective deans. Program SLOs should be turned in no later than October 2015 for inclusion in the 2016-17 catalog. Norma suggested that SLOs be turned in during the month of September to tie into the pre-launch timeline for new courses. Marty encouraged each department to post SLOs on their department websites. 5. Student Learning Support Activities Marty reviewed the list of current student learning and support activities as they appear on TracDat. The council reviewed and offered additions to the list, which will be forwarded to Student Services for feedback regarding support services under their division. An accurate list is required as part of the annual report to ACCJC. 6. Dashboard Feedback April informed the council that an assessment of Dashboard is still pending. Currently, there is no accurate measure to assess Dashboard do to the manner in which students access the tool. April mentioned variables that would currently skew the results of an assessment under current conditions. Kelly suggested that Dashboard be moved from Course Sites and into Blackboard allowing for automatic enrollment for all students and a printout of a certificate of completion upon completion of the course. Kelly suggested that a conversation with David Gray would need to take place in order to explore this option. 7. GE/ILO Timeline Wendy informed the council that GE/ILOs will continue to be labeled as such and will not be separated from each other. There are funds available to assess GE/ILOs in Fall 2015 and the council needs to determine which GE/ILO will be assessed. Wendy will email the rubric on Integrative Learning for the council’s review and discuss feedback at the next meeting. 8. GE/ILO Update (Intercultural & Written Communication) Wendy sent out an email to recruit faculty to assess Intercultural Competency and Knowledge and there were 17 volunteers after the first day. The goal is to have at least 40 courses participate in the assessment. A workgroup met on Friday, March 6 to discuss the results of the Written Communication assessment. Scores for the assessment were much higher than anticipated. Council members who participated in the workgroup shared theories on why the results of the assessment were so high. Additional data from IRP will be requested to answer questions about the assessment and the results. The workgroup will reconvene in April and will have recommendations for future assessments by the end of the spring semester. Meeting adjourned at 3:25 p.m. Next Meeting: March 26, 2015 2:00-3:30 p.m. AA 140
