Dean of Instructions’ funds, we are asking the student congress to provide $1,000 to help pay for
the lunches.

Discussion Items
4.1
Single Parent Luncheon Report Back- Erica Lee Barrios
4:10pm-4:40pm
See presentation attached.
4.2
Students of Concern Training- Brenda Ivelisse
Presentation done by Brenda on Students of Concern
Loretta: If we witness an incident and we call Public Safety, but we don’t know the student of concern what
should we do? You can get a description of the student and we can work based on that description.
Aaron: Do you share your database? No, unless the Student of Concern is going to hurt someone else. In
that case we work with other institutions (other schools, police department) and share only what is needed.
4.3
LAC Feedback- Luis Lopez Ortiz
After the remodeling of Sylvania, Rock Creek’s library space is being looked at for a possible renovation,
and some individuals consider the current space as inefficient. What does this body think of the library?
Eric: I think the library space is efficient for me, I do think that we do need more computers every now and
then.
Kevin: I don’t like how the study area is in the middle of the room, it can be distracting if you’re trying to
4.4
4.5
study.
Nathanial: I like the library set up.
Pablo: It is hard when you work by yourself, especially because you might not want to take the group study
room if you’re only one person.
Ulises: I like the openness created by the windows.
Loretta: Would more study cubbies like those in bldg 2 & 3 help with the privacy issue? Pablo: I think so.
Alejandra: What about a child care room? Luis: Thank you for pointing that out, Sylvania currently has one
in their library after the Bond construction.
Luis: Would we like to see that here? (about 10 people say yes)
Sara Seely: Would defined silent study areas work? Also the library could possibly have a collaborative
space for students to work together. This would create more options for the students.
Also just a reminder that we have Food for Fines where if you bring in a 6 oz. food item you get a reduction
of $4 from your library fines.

What is being funded? The lunch for the recognition of the volunteers and staff who helped with our hunger
campaign is being funded. The raffle prizes for this event are being funded as well. The event will be on Friday
Jan 25, at 2pm in Building 3.
Estimated number of students impacted and how they will benefit-We are estimating 75 people to attend.
It’s to appreciate the volunteers who helped us with our hunger campaign and more students who are interested
in contributing in the future. A speaker, who will talk about the issue of hunger not only as a national problem
but how it specifically impacts our community, will be present at the recognition lunch. This will allow people
to see that this is a serious problem and that there are ways to help out right here on campus. After the holidays,
there is still a need for food in the RC food canteen. We will get more people to donate so that the canteen is
full year round and help feed families in our community.
