approved with change.
2.0
Old Business
3:35pm-3:35pm
3.0
New Business
3.1
Club Chartering
3.1.1 GSA- Kevin Pfau
3:35pm-4:00pm
A club where people from the GSA (gay straight alliance) & its allies can discuss topics that affects them.
Is the GSA needed if we already have the QRC? Kevin: The GSA is also for people who don’t come in to the
QRC. We want them and our allies to have a chance to get involved. Approved unanimously.
3.1.2
Rock Creek Business Club- Tyrone Schnacker
We’ve hosted several events in the past where we brought in people in the world of business to our
students.
There is a program (The Bridge) that is trying to get a marketing plan for a school newspaper. Would your
group be interested? Tyrone: Yes. Approved unanimously.
3.2.3
Rock Creek Hip Hop Club- Eliya Matz
In the past few years we’ve had a hip-hop club. The club is a good way for dancers who cannot afford to
take the class or who cannot fit the class into their schedule to be able to practice hip-hop. Approved
unanimously.
3.2
Community Service Project Proposals
3.2.1 ReFIT- AGC Ian Powell
How many volunteers are working on the project? We have 5 confirmed and at least 12 are interested, but
we try to get in as many people as we can.
How long have you worked with ReFIT? AGC has been working with ReFIT for a number of years, they
always have projects for us to do. Approved unanimously.
3.3
Community Service Project Reports
3.3.1 Harvest Festival/Trick-or-Cans/Dia de los Muertos- Latino Outreach Club
Had 13 hours of volunteering from the Harvest Festival, and 6 hours from the Trick-or-Can. Requesting
approval of the 19 hours of community service that the club did. Approved unanimously.
3.4
Special Funds Request
3.4.1 SLC- Brigette Crement
Every Wednesday the Tutoring Center provides coffee and snacks. Based on our pilot year (2011-12) we
serve about 3,000 students per term every Wednesday. We have spent approx. $1300 purchasing coffee
this year from Food Services for 30-60 students every Wednesday. We want to be able to provide this coffee
at the SLC. See attached Funds Request.
Have you looked at the possibility of borrowing the coffee makers we have on campus? Yes.
Coffee provided only on Wednesdays for the entire year? Yes
Can we make it so that there are mugs to be more sustainable? Yes we can look at that, there will have to
be a transition period where we use paper cups but eventually we want to use mugs.
Alejandra suggests approving $1,000 for the Student Learning Center Coffee Proposal. Approved, 3
objections.
4.0
Discussion Items
4.1
Bottled Water- Sustainability Department
4:00pm-4:30pm
Video played on tap/bottled water.
We want more people to use reusable water bottles. “Take back the tap”, we want to see what people
think about getting rid of bottled water.
-Perhaps giving away some reusable water bottles, or maybe even selling the water bottles for cheap.
-Keep in mind that we have a 10 yr. contract with Coke so we have to sell their water products, and
anytime you buy something that is liquid it costs money.
-We also have the specialized water fountains in every building. That allows for people to use their own
water bottle.
-Educate others; make them aware that tap water is as safe as bottled water.
-You can do class raps or use Open Mind Open Mic to spread the word.
4.2
Touring Volunteers- Melissa Rico
PCC has a partnership with GearUP where they will send 95 7th graders to PCC and give them a college
experience. I am looking for 10 volunteers to give these students a tour of the campus, the tour will last
about an hour most likely from 10-11:30 but I would like the volunteers to stay from 10-1 pm. I would also
prefer student leaders to volunteer because they have more experience with the resources that the
campus offers, however if you know of anyone else that is interested have them contact me. I will have a
sign-up sheet going around.
4.3
Program Minimums- Pablo
Each campus gets $50,000 for program minimums, plus a percentage according to the FTE (full time
enrollment) the campus has. At the DSC there was talk about raising the Program Minimum to $75,000
because Southeast is projected to grow once bond construction is completed. They will become a campus
and in turn have more FTE students therefore the demand for money will be greater than the share they
receive. This would lower the amount of money each campus gets from the percentage of the FTE. On a
whole the campuses that are projected to gain funding would be Southeast and Cascade, Rock Creek
would lose around 3-5 k, and Sylvania would lose more.s
