Unclassified Staff Senate Executive Council Meeting
January 24, 2012
Called to order at 2:38 p.m. by President B.B. Stotts
A. Soup and Salad Celebration
a. Attendance – 55 unclassified staff members attended.
b. $80 was collected for purchase of table settings and crackers
i. A portion of this was from executive council members.
ii. A portion of this was paid by individuals who chose to pay instead
of bringing a dish to share.
c. Overall, event was well received; the council discussed how to facilitate
more networking among attendees.
i. One recommendation was to have the past-president coordinate
the event.
ii. Another recommendation was to have a volunteer list of Senators
for set-up and one list for clean-up.
B. Professional Development Survey
a. A final reminder email will be sent this month.
b. The due date will be January 31, and then the survey will close.
C. Request for representative from USS for the Student Health Fee Council; B.B. will
request a volunteer at the next Senate meeting
D. Meetings in March and May
a. Currently scheduled for the first Thursday of each month, but both conflict
with significant university events (Apple Day and Service Awards
Ceremony).
b. Heather will add our meetings to the University calendar.
E. We discussed the elections of both officers and senators
a. A three member election committee needs to be selected by the president
by the third week of February
b. We missed the December election of officers for the 2012-2013 academic
year.
i. Nominations will be held at the February meeting; it is
recommended that the bylaws be changed to have these elections
of officers at the January meeting in future years.
ii. We need to distinguish between election of officers (presidentelect, treasurer, secretary) and identification of cohort
representatives.
F. KBOR unclassified council will be meeting on February 3 in Wichita
a. The president’s office will be funding transportation for B.B. and Missi to
attend this meeting.
b. The unclassified council will decide if they will present at the February 15th
KBOR meeting.
G. Heather has been working with Jeanine in the Web Marketing office on the
webpage for USS; a photo of the officers will be taken on Tuesday to add to the
front page.
