Unclassified Staff Senate Executive Council Meeting Minutes
July 8, 2011
Present: President Misty Button, President-elect B.B. Stotts, Treasurer Lauren Werner,
and Secretary Heather Eckstein.
Called to order at 9:00 a.m. by President Misty Button.
Discussion of senator elections: consensus that elections – both of senators and of
officers — worked well.
Misty will appoint an ad hoc bylaws committee to recommend changes/additions to the
bylaws. Ron Womble will be asked to serve as chair; additional members to be
approached will be Holly Kent and Jamie Jones.
Purpose of ad hoc bylaws committee:
1) to recommend bylaw changes that specify formula for determining number of
senators from represented groups, elections process, and filling vacancies
that might occur for both Senate and officers positions,
2) to recommend standing committees as a need becomes apparent (such as
Bylaws Committee).
Officers attending Basic Supervisory Training: Misty Button and Heather Eckstein.
Lauren Werner and B.B. Stotts have already attended previously; B.B. Stotts will attend
select topics that were not included when she attended.
Lauren will work with HR and OIS to create a Mr. Bulke for those represented by the
Senate. Misty will work with Barbara Herbert to have the Angel group created.
 We will need to have an Angel overview for Senators. Heather will coordinate
two options for this overview with Barbara Herbert to be held during August.
 Heather will work with Michael Fienen to establish a website that will be
placed on the Faculty/Staff page (under resources like the classified senate).
Representation on University administrative committees by the senate needs to be
requested. Misty will request a list of those committees so that we can determine which
of the committee we would like to have membership.
Misty will make contact with the Faculty Senate, Classified Senate and Student Senate
to invite a representative to attend our meetings.
We need to request a liaison to President’s council. Misty will ask Shawn Naccarato to
see if he would be willing to serve as our liaison.
We need to replace Shawn Naccarato, who has moved into a new role that places him
on President’s Council. Misty will determine who was the next highest vote recipient in
Cohort 1 of University Advancement and approach that individual to serve.
Senate Meetings will be held the first Thursday of the month at 3:00 in Sept, Oct, Nov,
Dec, Jan, Feb, March, April & May. Heather will schedule the Center for Teaching,
Learning and Technology for these meetings, if available.
Officer meetings will be held monthly on the 4th Tuesday of the month at 3:00, except
the July meeting which will be July 19 at 2:30. Heather will schedule Russ 216 for these
meetings, if available.
