Environmental Eng. 1 (CE 360) Dr. Sameh S. Ahmed Associate Professor of Environmental Eng. Civil Engineering Department Engineering College Majma’ah University s.mohamed@mu.edu.sa faculty.mu.edu.sa/smohamed/SaMeH CE 360 Dr SaMeH 1 Course Goals The aim of this course is to expand the knowledge of the civil engineer student about the impact of development on environment and its relationship with the sustainable development. As an introductory course, it aims to give definitions and basics of different environmental pollutions such as: Liquid wastes, Solid wastes, Air pollution, Noise pollution. This will be achieved through understanding: sources, effect and control of each type of these pollutants. CE 360 Dr SaMeH 2 Outcomes The student is expected to be able to: • define of the different environmental pollutions and their impacts. • understand all the available environmental legislations in KSA to protect both surface and groundwater from pollution. • design environmental safe systems for sewage treatment and disposal for isolated buildings. • understand the hazardous of the environmental pollution. • Conducting EIA or Footprint for industrial projects or new settlements. CE 360 Dr SaMeH 3 Course Topics Part I: 1- Impact of Development on environment 2- Introduction to pollution problems 3- Liquid wastes 4- Solid wastes and management 5- Air pollution 6- Noise pollution Part II: 1- Environmental regulations 2- Concept of sustainable development 3- Project CE 360 Dr SaMeH 4 Student's duties 1. Students are required to lectures in regular base. attend 2.Students are asked to revise in advance the contents of the course and Chem. 105. 3.Participating in the discussions, prepare reports, give at least one seminar, and do all homework‘s.
