A. COURSE DESCRIPTION
ENG 112 aims to train the students to develop their speaking and listening skills so that at the end of the course they will be able to handle specific communicative tasks. The focus of the course will be on practical language use. Every student will perform these tasks numerous times within the class and in laboratory. Extensive use will be made of audio and visual materials to train the students to listen to language used in different situations. Intonation drills will be covered so that students can produce language that approximates native language rhythms.
B. METHOD OF INSTRUCTION
Lecture, class discussion, small group discussion and demonstration
C. COURSE OBJECTIVES
The students will demonstrate their ability to:
1.
Understand spoken English at a variety of communicative situations, especially lectures;
2. Speak about different topics in different communicative situations;
3. Acquire different strategies that will help them improve their listening and speaking skills; and
4. Produce spoken language that has an acceptable level of clarity.
