Fill Your Holidays with Warmth and Laughter this December at Young Auditorium
WHITEWATER – Warm memories often begin with holiday traditions. The Holiday shows at Young
Auditorium in Whitewater hope to make your list of activities this December. Tickets are available to
purchase online and print at home, or by contacting the Greenhill Center of the Arts Box Office on the
UW-Whitewater campus.
On Saturday, December 13, the Young Auditorium presents the most beloved ballet, The Nutcracker,
performed by The Dance Factory for two performances at 2:00 pm and 7:00 p.m. Talented local
dancers shine in a dazzling show enhanced by radiant costumes and the thrilling music of
Tchaikovsky. The Nutcracker is under the artistic direction of Tina Lendman. “We are thrilled to have
our dancers once again perform on this great stage,” she stated. “We have a delightful cast, and we
are excited to put on a great show for everyone.”
This annual production is a labor of love for the staff and students at The Dance Factory. They begin
auditions in the summer and rehearse from July to December. From the very youngest dancers who
are able to perform in minor roles, to the seasoned dancers who take on the more challenging parts,
the audience will be amazed by the talent and dedication these young dancers bring to the stage.

Ticket prices range between $15.50-$19.50 for either performance.
On Saturday, December 20, Young Auditorium brings Sweetwood Production’s A Kodachrome
Christmas to the stage, starring Emmy award-winning comedian, John McGivern. There are two show
times for this performance as well – one at 2:00 p.m. and one at 7:30 p.m. Guests can also choose to
add a $15 Holiday themed luncheon to the matinee performance at 12:30 p.m. The menu and ticket
information for the luncheon is available on the Young Auditorium website. Ticket prices for the show
range between $24.50-$36.50.
In this show, you’ll enter the colorful world of cable access TV hostess, Earlene Hoople (McGivern),
the self-proclaimed “Queen of Rural Media,” as she tapes her Christmas Special in front of a live
studio audience. Letters to Mrs. Claus, the outrageous annual slide show, fresh baked cookies and
an impromptu church hand-bell choir set the stage for a picture- perfect evening of theatre.
A Kodachrome Christmas writer and director, Pat Hazell, notes, “What is often unseen in a oneperson show is the efforts of the talented designers and crew members that share their abundant
gifts. No duty is greater than that of giving thanks. I am humbled by the generous creative support I
have been offered to develop this theatrical experience. May the laughter in the theatre on show night
be carried with you into the spirit of the holiday season.”
John McGivern is thrilled to be back at Young Auditorium. He is a member of Milwaukee’s morning
radio show with Dave and Carole on 96.5 WKLH. He is best known for his PBS Specials and Emmy
Award-winning weekly series, Around the Corner with John McGivern, which airs on all Wisconsin
PBS Stations and PBS Stations in Minnesota. McGivern has also been a part of productions on HBO
and Comedy Central.
The Young Auditorium serves as a presenting organization for the performing arts and as an
