Congratulations! You are applying for an opportunity to engage in a high-impact practice of
participating in a regional Honors collegiate conference. This experience will be academically
enriching and have the added bonus of being a resume builder!
Projects eligible for presentation at the UMRHC include an exceptional H-Option Project, a
research or creative project originating in an Honors course/section, and an applied project that
has enhanced the University Honors Program, including its affiliated communities, the Honors
Learning Community and the Honors Student Association.
If your application is selected by both UW-W’s Honors Council and the UMRHC, the major
expenses related to your conference participation (registration fee, lodging, transportation, the
cost of creating a poster, etc.) will be covered by the University Honors Program (UHP).

1. Please describe your conference project in 1-2 paragraphs.
2. Explain why you believe your conference project has exceptional scholarly and/or creative merit
OR why you believe it will enhance UW-Whitewater’s UHP.
3. Did your project develop out of an Honors Course, H-Option, or other UHP-related experience
(Honors Learning Community, Honors Student Association, etc )? Please explain.
4. Conference presentations generally consist of two kinds: 1. A formal one-hour session consisting
of multiple presenters giving a 10-minute presentation each, followed by Q & A from the
audience; 2. Poster presentations in which presenters explain their projects in 1-2 minutes and are
available to answer questions. With these parameters in mind, explain which option would suit
your project best and why.
5. Please include a letter of recommendation (preferably by a faculty or staff member who is
familiar with your project). Email the letter and this application form to honors@uww.edu with

to the UHP office, Andersen Library, Room 2115.
