Do not irrigate for an unnecessary long period.
Do not irrigate during the heat
of the day, because then the
water evaporates the most.
Rather irrigate in the early
mornings or late afternoons.


Install rainwater tanks, which
catch all the rainwater that falls
on your house’s roof. Use this
water for irrigation.
Plant endemic South African plants. That is plants that
occur naturally in South Africa only, such as proteas,
succulents and cacti. They are better adapted to our
climate and use less water.
