Quality Assurance
19
Direct Assessments process
 Using some combinations of course work such as quizzes,
exams, projects, presentations, homework, etc.
 The achievements on these exercises are directly tied to
program outcomes.
 The assessment is carried out every time a course is
given.
Indirect Assessments process
 Carried through Student Survey, Exit surveys, Faculty
reports and feedback from the Industrial Advisory
Committee.
All surveys are carried out electronically

1. Common understanding of the implications of each Student
Outcome.
2. Identify major competencies required for achieving the SOs.
(knowledge, skills, attitudes)
3. Identify KPIs (i.e., rubrics or attributes, types of competences)
that best represent the requirement of each of the SOs.
4. Each course syllabus, especially the content of it, was then used
to guide the identification of the two to three major SOs that
the course can cover.
5. Step 4 above was repeated for all required courses of the
program and collected in a matrix-format mapping between
the courses and the SOs.

6. Assessments were conducted for the first yearly cycle for all
core courses.
7. Results and supporting student works is available in each
course portfolio and in the department website.
8. This initial choice of assessing all courses helped all faculty
members to get involved and learn the process.
9. For the future we foresee that our complete assessment,
analysis and resulting recommendation for attaining the target
of the individual SOs will be fully conducted on fewer numbers
of courses, “Key Courses” covering some formative and
summative ones.
