Please complete this form if you wish to apply for financial support from the Department of English in the form of a
Graduate Research Assistantship. Only M.A. candidates in English are eligible for support. Assistantships are competitive
and may take the form of research for a faculty member, tutoring in the Writing Center, assisting in an English class, or some
combination of these activities. Assistantships provide a tuition waiver and carry a $2,500 stipend (specific stipend amounts
are contingent on funding). Specific assignments will take into consideration academic achievement, professional maturity,
career aspirations and departmental needs. Assistantships are offered for fall and spring terms; students may apply for one or
both terms. Summer assistantships, generally Writing Center assistantships, carry a smaller stipend, and may be available,
contingent on funding. Students interested in these opportunities, should they become available, should indicate that on the
form. Please attach a current copy of your resume or curriculum vitae and a brief letter describing your interest in a GRA.
