BOARD OF TRUSTEES MEETING Monday, February 3, 2003 FINANCE AND FACILITIES COMMITTEE Richard M. Guon, Chair WHEREAS, Dr. Alice H. Young, was a founding member of the Monroe Community College Board of Trustees in 1961; and WHEREAS, Dr. Alice H. Young has served Monroe Community College conscientiously and with dedication to its mission for over 40 years; and WHEREAS, Dr. Alice H. Young has provided invaluable leadership to the board, dedicating countless hours of personal service on behalf of the College; and WHEREAS, Dr. Alice H. Young whose tenure with the Rochester City School District has assisted youth in the Rochester area by establishing partnership agreements with Monroe Community College; and WHEREAS, Dr. Alice H. Young has been a model for minority students at Monroe Community College as well; and WHEREAS, the Dr. Alice H. Young Teaching Internship was established at Monroe Community College to provide opportunities for ethnic minority persons to gain community college teaching experience; and WHEREAS, Dr. Alice H. Young has tirelessly lent her support and expertise to numerous community, business, civic and educational institutions in Monroe County and New York State for more than four decades; now, therefore be it RESOLVED, That the Board of Trustees hereby honor Dr. Alice H. Young’s many contributions to this college and community by connecting her name, in perpetuity, with this College’s history-making entry into residence life; thus be it further RESOLVED, that our new residence hall complex be named the Alice Holloway Young Commons, on this 3rd day of February, 2003. (F5-2003) Motion was made and seconded that the above resolution be adopted. Motion was carried unanimously.
