Purpose: How can the College currently improve the ways in which it communicates to its internal and
external constituents?
What is working District-wide?
 City Currents
 Press releases/Coverage
 Television (Channel 27)/Radio
 Wide email distribution
 Targeted mailing/postcards
 The Guardsman
What are our goals?
 Effectively informing the community of our work, projects, resources, needs
 Being transparent in our work
 Generating public knowledge
 Supporting outreach and recruitment
What can we do in improve and expand outreach?
 Prepare a Quarterly Report from the Chancellor to the SFChronicle/Business Times
and other media sources
 Prepare Monthly/Quarterly newsletter to the community regarding issues facing the
College community
 Utilize our TV/radio stations more effectively:
Show featuring great lectures by CCSF professors/Guests of Concert/Lecture Series
Creation of 60 second info commercials to be aired with considerable frequency
Cover CCSF Saturday Night football games
News on Diego Rivera Mural Project happenings
Broadcast our Film Department’s Annual Film Festival
Revamp the web to create a modern, accessible, updated, and integrated campus site
for use by students, faculty, staff, and community

 Prepare a Chancellor’s Report for 70th Anniversary which would include a history of
CCSF
 Performance Gala
 Prepare a Chancellor’s Report for 70th Anniversary which would include a history of

 Expand Concert/Lecture Series
 Promote College activities in more creative ways
 Create a “Monday Morning Report” via email for policy makers: This would be a
short synopsis of activities related to The College, Facilities, Grants, etc.
 Approach SF Chronicle Friday Section editor for a Higher Education Column – This
would be a joint effort with PIOs from University of San Francisco, SF State
University, and University of California at Berkeley
 Create a link from CCSF website to SF Gate
 Increase the geographical reach of the station
 Provide for web streaming of radio broadcast
 Develop inter-departmental linkages that highlight and accentuate what each is
doing to promote outreach to avoid duplication of efforts and maximize resources
(Dean of Outreach, Articulation Officer, SFUSD Liaisons, Athletic Department,
Department/Program Chairs, Campus Deans, etc.)
