Sonoma State University Campus Recreation 2016 Counselor in Training (CIT) Application Camp Philosophy: Super Kids Camp provides children (ages 5-11 years old) with a safe, supportive, and fun environment that encourages child development through various activities including sports, drama, art, field trips, and other planned special events. Objective: The Counselor in Training (CIT) program is designed to give adolescents a chance to gain leadership and responsibility opportunities. They will be shadowing and working in conjunction with counselors to learn how to effectively work with younger children in a professional manner while attending Super Kids Camp. Qualifications: Between the ages of twelve and fourteen Attend at least 6 out of the 10 weeks of camp Attend at least 3 out of the 5 days of each week Some experience working with children Creative and energetic Mature and responsible Duties and Responsibilities: Work directly with the counselors in leading and supervising activities Help design and implement lesson plans for camp opening or closing activities Assist a particular counselor in the execution of their activity once a week Aid and take initiative during; pool rules, lost and found, snack, water breaks, etc. Lend a helping a hand to counselors in the daily aspects of Super Kids Camp Participate in all camp events and activities Attend all mandatory meetings and trainings Set a positive example for campers Camp Information: Camp begins June 6th and ends August 12th. Daily camp hours are Monday through Friday 9:00 am to 4:30 pm. We also have an extended care option from 7:00am to 6:00 pm. The price will be $75 for regular camp hours and that includes extended care. Applications will be due by Friday April 1st by 10:00pm either to the front desk in the recreation center or by email to superkidscamp@sonoma.edu We will be responding to all applicants by April 8th. Interviews will be set up the week of April 11th Due to the large number of applicants, not all applicants will be accepted. If accepted, there will be a CIT training day Saturday, May 21st depending on selected CIT’s schedules.
