SKILLS MAINTENANCE PROGRAM SURVEY
--------------- has been commissioned by the Federal Government’s telecommunications industry
regulator, the Australian Communications Authority, or ACA for short, to conduct a study among
telecommunications cabling practitioners.
We understand that you are a registered
telecommunications cabler, and we are interested in talking with you about a possible introduction
of a mandatory Skills Maintenance Program for registered cablers.
The ACA has provided us with a random list of cablers which we are contacting – we will not
provide individual results to the ACA – they will not be able to identify you in any manner.

SURVEY
Q1
Skills maintenance programs are operated by some trade and professional associations as a
means of ensuring that their members are up-to-date with current practices, usually by
participating in activities aimed at keeping their knowledge and skills up to date.
Activities can vary from attending training or a conference to participating on a relevant
professional committee, to undertaking some self-directed learning on a Website or
subscribing to a relevant professional journal.
Activities undertaken for skills maintenance sometimes incur a cost that is tax deductible
and may or may not be covered by employers.

cabling skills are maintained, would result in benefits for the telecommunications cabling
