1. On your table you will find all necessary materials to complete this activity. Although
students would complete over the course of several days, you will have time to complete
it during our morning make and take. A guide will lead you on the outdoor portion of the
activity (they will provide you with baggies to collect rocks). You will then return to the
table to conduct experiments and classify.
Materials:
- Baggies
- Rocks
- Scales
- Paper for notes
- Pencils/pens
Day 1:

Go on rock hunt with guide
Find rocks and put them in baggies (10-15 different rocks)
Measure rocks and record how big they are
Record observations about the properties of the rocks they find
Day 2:
1. You have access to a scale to classify based on weight
2. Classify in three different ways
3. Record classifications
