Instructions:

1.

Fill up your plastic tray with water.

2.

Place two drops of red food coloring in the water.

3.

Cut the Dixie cup in half.

4.

Place the Dixie cup in the water.

5.

Draw a line on the Dixie cup that traces the water line.

6.

Make a hypothesis as to what will happen when you add weight to the Dixie cup.

7.

Place a few pennies and/or marbles into the Dixie cup (while it is in the water)

8.

Do not sink or tip the Dixie cup!

9.

Draw a line on the Dixie cup that traces the new water line.

10.

Make a hypothesis as to what will happen when you take the weight out of the

Dixie cup.

11.

Take the weight out of the Dixie cup.

12.

Draw a line on the Dixie cup that traces the new water line.
