Signing this offer letter indicates your intention to accept this student position, however, final approval of hire or rehire is contingent on the following requirements:
Satisfactory proof of employment eligibility via the I-9 form by providing acceptable and original forms of identification and employment verification documentation. Acceptable identity verification documents are described in the New Employee Portal.
Note: The University of Cincinnati is an E-Verify Employer. The information provided by the employee on the electronic I-9 (including Social Security Number) will be processed through the E-Verify system. This is a required step in finalizing the employment process.
Check your email for information on accessing the New Employee Portal. Login to the
Portal and complete the online paperwork in the section REQUIRED BEFORE YOU START. o If you are a US Citizen, or Green Card holder, you will need to report to Human
Resources located in University Hall, 51 Goodman Drive, Suite 340 (Medical Campus) to complete the hiring process. This needs to be done within 3 days of your start date. o If you are International, you must set up an appointment with UC International
Student Services, located in One Edwards Center on the third floor (Main Campus) to complete the hiring process. This needs to be done within 3 days of your start date.
You may not begin working until all of your paperwork is completed and processed. Once we have confirmation from Human Resources that your paperwork has been completed, we will contact you with your schedule.
As a UC Student Worker, you will not contribute to Social Security. Instead, you will contribute to the Ohio Public Employees Retirement Plan (OPERS). OPERS membership requires a tax-deferred payroll deduction. These deductions are remitted to OPERS for the purpose of accumulating service credit toward future retirement benefits. Student employees may request exemption from OPERS membership by completing an OPERS
Request for Optional Exemption Form (F3). The form must be signed and delivered to UC
Human Resources within 30 days of covered employment. OPERS exemption requests will
be honored for the duration of a student’s employment status unless enrollment drops to less than a half-time basis (5 hours for undergrad and 6 hours for graduate students). In such cases, OPERS deductions will be withheld until sufficient credit hours are added in subsequent term(s).
