Debate Week Review #1 - (03/07/16)
Directions: Think about this week’s debates: a) Voter ID Cards (should ALL voters be required to show a
government ID before being allowed to vote?)? b) Should gay, lesbian, bisexual & transgendered (GLBT)
students/people have a new law enacted just to protect them exclusively as a “special group” or, are current bullying,
civil rights, and constitutional laws already in existence at local, state and federal levels enough? While composing,
reflect on what you heard, learned, agreed or disagreed with, and whether or not your mindset about any of the
particular issues raised was somehow changed to favorable or unfavorable. Type a minimum of no less than 1-1/2 to 2
paragraphs, which should equal 9-10 sentence reflections (single spaced) about each of the debates. Use 12” font,
Times New Roman or Arial, and single spacing [double spacing between reflections only]. Again, each paragraph
must be a minimum of 9-10 sentences, and should also be indented! Do not turn in any additional pages, only this
one, so adjust spacing as necessary! This assignment is due on Monday, 03/28/2016! The review counts for 50%
of your debate grade, and 50% comes from the actual debate. You cannot/will not receive partial credit for
either half if you were NOT present for both parts of the assignment, PERIOD!!!
***REMEMBER*** A PARAGRAPH HAS NO LESS THAN 5 WELL CONSTRUCTED, COMPLETE
SENTENCES, THAT ARE NOT “BABYISH” OR “KINDERGARTEN LIKE” [ex. “The Death Penalty debate
was first”. “It was good”. “I enjoyed it”. “Both groups made good points”. “I did not change my mind”.]!!! 
F.Y.I… While ALL of these are complete, they are examples of “babyish” or “kindergarten like” sentences!!!!!!
Plus, technically, the 5 sentences together would constitute a paragraph!  DO NOT GET CAUGHT IN THIS
TRAP, YOU WILL LOSE MOST, IF NOT ALL OF YOUR POINTS FOR THIS PORTION!
