Project 3 – Commercial
Description
You will create a commercial for a product, service, charity, or Public Service Announcement. You
may write your own or use an existing ad. You will work together with your lab partners on this
project, and turn in a single collective effort.
Specifications
1. You must create 30 and 60 second versions of your ad.
2. Your commercials must each be exactly the length specified.
3. The speech must flow smoothly and naturally. In other words, it must sound like one perfect
take. Pay very close attention to how natural the delivery sounds. Make edits as necessary.
4. You must add an appropriate stereo music bed of your choice.
5. You must add at least one appropriate sound effect. You may use a sound library, use samples
from movies, CDs or the internet, or make them up yourself.
6. You must import a bounced stereo audio file of each version of the ad to a different stereo
audio track.
Due
1. A data CD/DVD of your Pro Tools session directory.
2. This project is due Wednesday, Oct. 30. This will give you 3 sessions to complete the project.
Grading
I will grade your commercials using the following criteria:
1. Technical skill. Your edits must be technically proficient and inaudible.
2. Effectiveness. Your commercial must effectively promote the product.
3. The 60 second version of your commercial will be worth 70% of your grade.
4. The 30 second version of your commercial will be worth 30% of your grade.
