Directs institutional assessment and research projects including instructional effectiveness, organizational effectiveness, and coordination of institutional planning projects. Assists administration in the development and submission of reports as appropriate to external agencies. Assists with the assessment activities related to other federal programs, state or regional grants, etc. Provides institutional support for research projects including but not limited to student academic and matriculation success, development and improvement of educational partnerships, and improved teaching and learning strategies. Assists with data reports for the development and submission of externally funded grants.

Essential Functions & Responsibilities:

30% Coordinates institutional assessment activities.

Coordinates assessment activities related to regional accreditation, Kansas Board of Regents performance agreements, and institutional planning initiatives.

Oversees compliance associated with Higher Learning Commission (HLC) accreditation and

Kansas Board of Regents including the preparation of required reports.

Assists faculty and staff with data identification, collection, and reporting for program reviews.

Coordinates administration, analysis, and reporting for college surveys (including but not limited to CCSSE and Student Satisfaction Inventory), graduate student learning assessments, and institutional focus groups.

Participates and helps lead in the institutional accreditation (HLC) improvement projects including assisting committees as needed with training in the use of data software, improvement processes, data gathering, and tracking of outcomes.

25% Directs all instructional assessment activities as chair of the assessment committee.

Chairs regularly scheduled committee meetings; establishes the agenda; arranges for documentation of meetings;

 reports activities of the committee to administration and the Academic Affairs Council; monitors actions and initiatives of the committee; and ensures alignment of assessment activities within the college’s improvement initiatives.

Provides assistance for faculty and co-curricular programs in developing student learning assessment plans which align with performance expectations.

15% Assists with the implementation of institutional improvement activities through effective research, communication, and collaboration with the administrative team.

Assists with identification and development of appropriate data reports which can be used to monitor institutional improvement.

Provides training and assistance on the access, interpretation, and use of data reports.

Develops, monitors, and presents reports on the college dashboard.

15% Assists with the development and implementations of the SCCC/ATS strategic plan.

Regularly communicates with administration regarding the development, design, and data access necessary for monitoring the strategic plan and institutional goals.

Provides status reports to the administrative team and Board of Trustees regarding the status of strategic initiatives and institutional goals.

10% Oversees project compliance with federal/state/local grant activities as assigned.

Assists grant directors with developing, accessing, and interpretation of appropriate data reports associated with external funding initiatives.

Documents processes and data sources for grant activities.

5% Performs other job related duties as assigned.

Supports college activities beyond the specific responsibilities of assessment and research as requested and appropriate for exempt personnel including but not limited to committee participation, professional development activities, and commencement.

Performance Measurements:

1.

To ensure the college goals of instructional assessment, institutional effectiveness assessment, and related activities are completed as planned.

2.

To ensure accreditation and compliance requirements are met.

3.

To ensure the college’s assessment committee meets regularly with effective processes and activities which lead to student and institutional improvement.

4.

To monitor and assist in the completion of reports according to the calendar established for instructional and non-instruction program reviews.

5.

To develop and submit to the College administrative team necessary reports on assessment activities, data reports as assigned, accreditation agency reports, and Kansas Board of Regents performance agreements/status reports.

6.

To effectively supervise assigned staff.

7.

To provide assistance in the development and implementation of the SCCC/ATS Strategic plan through effective design assistance and coordination of activities related to the development of the plan including community and institutional meetings.

8.

To keep administration informed regarding key issues affecting the College's progress toward institutional goal attainment.

9.

To participate in college activities including staff meetings, committee assignments, and other appropriate activities as requested.

10.

To maintain a professional work environment and businesslike appearance.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Experience:

Two years to five years of similar or related experience.

Education:

A Bachelor's degree in education, business, communication or similar discipline.

Interpersonal Skills:

The ability to motivate or influence others is a material part of the job, requiring a significant level of diplomacy and trust. Obtaining cooperation (internally and/or externally) is an important part of the job and a high level of interpersonal skills is critical to the success of this position. Work frequently involves contacts requiring considerable discussion of problems, material presentations, and resolving issues impacting departments or divisions.

Other Skills

Knowledge of: a.

Understanding of instructional assessment methodology and data collection/reporting relative to higher education. b.

Knowledge of information/data dashboards. c.

Understanding of institutional accreditation processes. d.

Understanding of processes associated with strategic planning.

Skills: a.

Proficient in word processing, spreadsheets and integrated database required. b.

Proficiency in statistical analysis, project management software, and use of instructional technology required. c.

Proficient in use of internet and e mail systems for communication and information research and retrieval.

Abilities: a.

Able to organize committee meetings which are effective in producing results. b.

Able to effectively provide direction and instruction in the use, retrieval, interpretation, and dissemination of data. c.

Able to effectively communicate and collaborate with members of the Board of trustees, the president, the administrative team, faculty, staff, and students. d.

Able to communicate the importance of assessment and institutional goal attainment. e.

Able to effectively and professionally engage with external contacts not only for the success of the position, but the success of the College's goals. f.

Able to evaluate data and develop reports which can be communicated to the public. g.

Able to manage multiple projects utilizing a system of prioritization and deadlines. h.

Willing to attend and present reports to the Board of Trustees, administrative team, and agencies as requested. i.

Able to effectively communicate using electronic media.

Physical requirements are based on an 8 hour work day and may vary slightly.
