Community Outreach Achievements
As Research Coordinator I continue to utilize our yearly “Research
Conference” to showcase our student and faculty work, with exceptional
attendance and reception of this program for the last 10 years. Our students
universally report that this process is the most exciting part of their critical
inquiry process, and the faculty and area clinicians enjoy the process immensely.
Based on our community support, we received continue to receive multi-year
17
funding, most recently from the Memorial Hermann System for a yearly support
of $10,000.
My relationship with Memorial Hermann System continues to develop,
with me now providing a total of 4-6 continuing education courses per year to
their physical therapists, as well as weekly on-site mentoring. We have also
implemented our Sports and Orthopedic Residency programs, both that are dual
sponsored, combining TWU’s resources with those of MH system to maximally
benefit the physical therapy community. This in turn has developed into
ongoing collaborative research opportunities that is currently funded through
TWU REP funding.
