IITS Initiatives and Updates …
Hardware and Software Procurement
• Use IITS as your IT Consulting Service as early as possible … We have answers
(and yes, requirements) about accessibility, security, logging in, etc.
• Be sure to get preapprovals from IITSApproval@csusm.edu for:
Desktop/laptop/notebook computers  Tablets (iPads, Surface, Kindle Fire, etc.)
Software  Online IT services such as Survey Monkey, GoToMyPC, Constant Contact.
Web Hosting  Monitors, TVs, projectors  Networked printers/copiers
Cloud Storage, such as box, iCloud, Google Drive (campus accounts are provided by Box)
• Per Procurement, preferred purchasing methods are:
• For orders of $2,500 and less, your ProCard.
• For orders of $2,500 and more, a Purchase Order. Enter requisition to get
one started.
If there is a contract, send it to Procurement. They are the only department
authorized to sign it.

Information Security
• Cloud vendors are quickly becoming the norm, but they raise
concerns about data security/retention/reporting strategies.
• Connecting with other campus identity systems is one of the keys to
a successful implementation.
• Storing Level 1 Data … locations of SSN data must be encrypted.
IITS is using “Identity Finder” to locate and protect this data.
(Examples of Level 1 Data: PINs, credit card number w/cardholder
name, driver’s license number, SSN, medical records, plus more)

PeopleSoft Student Security Redesign
• Goal is to streamline/automate access to PeopleSoft Student
• Access will be granted based on Job Code and Department (e.g., when a new advisor is hired,
there will be a pre-validated set of permissions assigned in a nightly process).
• Timeline – soon! Permissions are built; awaiting final testing and approvals.

PeopleSoft Retooling
A major undertaking that will make financial aid, etc., available in support of six- and eight-week
sessions, especially in the School of Nursing.
OnBase Update
• ePan implementation for FAS is moving forward with 3 of the 5 areas planned to be in production
by the end of the year.
• Second phase of transcript capture will go live in the next couple of weeks.
• Currently testing Procurement contracts and agreements.
