The campus is moving to Windows Vista full support.
Vista has been available for approximately two years and many of the issues associated
with it have been resolved.
The advantages to switching are improved start up times and performances, improved
wireless and syncing for laptops, improved security, better search and organization tools,
and more sophisticated graphics.
Computers that will be impacted beginning Summer 2009 are faculty and staffs refresh
systems and in Fall 2009 all instructor stations and lab computers will be impacted.
Windows Vista campus applications have been thoroughly tested by IITS and the user
community.
Windows 7 is the next version of Vista and Vista has numerous advantages that are hard
to ignore.
Though Windows Vista is simple to use, IITS has training options like self paced online,
multimedia tutorials, and face to face instruction.
All Faculty has been informed that the Windows Vista change will be occurring.
Citrix will not improve because of Windows Vista.
Emails regarding who will be refreshed will be coming out soon.
