General Education Committee Report
UHH Faculty Congress Meeting

The re-certification of 196 General Education courses originally certified for 2011-2016
continues. The re-certification process proceeds through the department/program chairs
to individual faculty and will continue throughout the academic year.
New course certifications are being conducted separately from the ongoing recertification process and are being reviewed by the Committee.
For recruiting new members, I had these two aims in mind: I have tried to recruit a person
who has served in the GE Committee previously and also I wanted to have a member
from each college. Jonathan Price who served in the Committee previously and Hazel
Reece from Nursing agreed to serve this year. I requested a member from CoBE but
could not get anyone. I also made sure that I will have a student representative in the
Committee. The new membership of the GE Committee has been identified and
confirmed as below:
