Each entry should clearly indicate the chapter it corresponds to. You can either keep your beach journal in a composition notebook or as a series of electronic entries that are printed out and kept together in a 3-ring type binder. All 87 chapters should be completed by the end of semester Journals from the first ten chapters will be collected on Monday January 22. This will give you an excellent opportunity to receive feedback on your journal entries. Journals will also be collected on the first Monday of the month: Feb 5, March 5, April 2. Turn in your journal at the beginning of class. It is recommended that you complete 5-8 chapters a week. You may work at their own pace: do more chapters a week and finish early, or spread them evenly across the semester. There are no penalties if journals are late or have few entries, providing that all chapters are finished by Wednesday May 2 (the last day of class). This is last day that journals will be accepted. The journal counts for 10% of the final grade. Grading will be as follows: Deadlines Grading exceptionally detailed or thoughtful (A+ 100%) student has absorbed information and reflected on it (A- 90%) entry is cursory or lacks depth (C- 75%) better than nothing (D 60%) Missing Entry (0%) These are average killers, don’t let it happen!
