Mission, Vision and Values
Mission: The University of Hawaiʻi at Hilo Business Services staff are customer service
and solutions oriented in their mission to provide a variety of accounting and business
services to students, staff, and university programs. Business Services staff realize the
importance of treating students, staff, vendors, and the public with respect, while
efficiently handling each transaction with professionalism and procedural knowledge
that promotes efficient operations of all educational programs, administrative and
infrastructure processes, and student activities that comprise the operational
complexities that make up the University of Hawaiʻi at Hilo.
Vision: The staff of the University of Hawaiʻi at Hilo Office of Business Services fulfill
the mission of the University of Hawaiʻi at Hilo through educating students, staff and
vendors regarding financial and contractual obligations and responsibilities, coordination
of financial and budget activities, and facilitation of communications regarding all
transactions. Business Services staff treat all people courteously and with respect,
providing solutions for every customer, knowing that in some cases creativity and
flexibility are needed to provide satisfactory outcomes. These tactics positively affect
recruitment and retention of students, positively impact the efficiency of program and
administrative operations, and promote an atmosphere of goodwill.
Values: Balancing compliance with the highest level of customer service is of
paramount importance. We achieve excellence in each transaction by acting with
integrity and having respect for our customer; being solution oriented and ensuring each
customer is educated and satisfied; and by asking for feedback as to how we can better
serve each customer.
