UND MASTER PLANNING Phase I: Information Gathering & Analysis Planning Schedule & Milestones NDUS Deadlines: • July 1, 2015 – SBHE & NDUS complete strategic planning process • September 1, 2015 – NDUS & Chancellor complete evaluation of mission goals of each institution • November 15, 2015 – Institution leadership completes strategic planning efforts at each institution • December 1, 2015 – Institutions complete enrollment projections • February 15, 2016 – Institutions complete master plan, based on facility inventory data and space utilization plan. Include capital project requests. What is Planned UND Planning Assumptions • On campus: approximately enrollment same as today • Enhanced technology to support both on-campus and distance student needs • 100 classrooms will be upgraded by 2020 Phase I Scope of Work • Focus on information gathering, analysis, and defining the framework for select capital projects and financial requests Scope of Space Utilization Study • Is each department using space efficiently, space occupied by the department vs target space occupancy? • What is the strategic plan for each College – what space does each College need over the next 6 years? • Is the space adequate for each department? If not, where can the department be located? • Can certain departments / centers occupying smaller buildings be consolidated in larger buildings? • What opportunities exist with the repurposing of the School of Medicine & Health Sciences? Tie into MIRA • Space Management Committee develops policies and procedures for space • Governs the allocation and brokerage of space across campus • Submits deferred maintenance priority list Communication & Engagement Plan • Target Audiences: – Executive Council, Steering Committee, Campus Community, Univ/Staff/Student Senates, External Stakeholders, Media • Strategies & Tactics: – Letter outlining purpose, scope, and time line – Supplemental feedback (online poll, open forums, etc.) Questions?
