Course Syllabus Lead Workforce Development 2 hour lecture for 16 weeks Summer: Lead 1200-1072 CRN # 91183 Instructor: Annie Dias Email: Joyce.dias@hccs.edu Office Location and Hours Course Lead Location, Sterling High School Course Length 16 weeks) Type of Instruction Lecture Course Description: The purpose of Lead is to assist students in acquiring knowledge and skills in career and technical areas as well as leadership skills and experience. This course can include a variety of activities, including community service, co-circular projects, and competition preparation. Course Prerequisite(s) None Text: Material Required All students will be required to purchase the text book “Reaching Your Potential”. Course Goals Students develop critical thinking skills, problem solving and decision making skills, using cooperative learning, recognize and value diversity, performance assessments and generate portfolios. The students will be responsible for managing time organizing and processing assignments and interpreting and responding to verbal instruction in the development of the career preparation. Example: Academic Discipline/CTE Program Learning Outcomes A three letter lecture class meets 3 hours per week absence of 2-classes (6) hours is 12.5 %of the class. Administrative drops are left to the discretion of the instructor. It is the students’ responsibility to withdraw from class. Failure to withdraw will result in grade of F. Class Attendance: students are required to attend all classes. Student Assignments: Instructional Materials At the end of each chapter, there are facts in review section, each student must read and answer each one and submit answers to be graded. It must be one in class in an open book format. Each student will prepare a resume and cover letter, a job search will be conducted by each student. Every student will perform in a mock interview. A portfolio will be generated for grades. At the end a the portfolio will be presented by all students. Soft Cover, Cengage.
