It focuses on higher education in America, Russia, U.K., Germany and Japan. Priority is put on relationship between higher education development and political, economic, social and cultural factors. It intends to make students familiar with historical and comparative approaches based on the solid understanding of higher education in particular countries. The classroom instruction spends 108 hours. (2) Economics of Education The course introduces theories, methodology, application and new development in the field of economics of education. The main content of the course is as follows. ①the origin, evolution and development of the field; ②education and economic growth; ③educational investment; ④ educational funding and educational resources allocation; ⑤ the educational investment and its efficiency and effectiveness; ⑥education production function; ⑦cost analysis and cost recovery; ⑧educational opportunity; ⑨the demand and supply, employment; ⑩the prospects of the field. The classroom instruction will spend 54 hours. 7 8
