Wallano Introductions Sim Yoe, the earth sciences laboratory technician retired, effective December 30, 2009; Sara DiFiori and Dan Wright have been taking care of issues. Syntia Hadiningtias will fill in as a temporary laboratory technician until June, 2010. Accreditation The college is fully accreditated. There are some issues; we still need to show that SLOs are being assessed and that the SLOs are making a difference. The planning process is getting done and has everyone’s input. The SLO assessments are due June 1, 2010. The Biology department has completed their assessments, if assistant is needed, the biology department could help. Spring 2010 Enrollment The majority of the classes are full; classes are 97% filled, 96% of seats are filled. Open classes for ECC and Compton are posted outside the division office on a board. 1 Summer and Fall 2010 Schedules Two summer classes were cut from the Summer, 2010 schedule. The scheduled classes for Fall, 2010 are 10% less than the Fall, 2009 classes. Physics and Astronomy are affected by the cuts in the Fall, 2010 schedule. The new fee deadlines were discussed. Meeting Schedule A list of department meetings was distributed; Jean asked faculty to review the list and verify that the meeting schedules are o.k. Academic Senate Report Dave Vakil will distribute surveys regarding voting for department chairs. In the near future, faculty will receive an email notification when students add and/or drop classes. Curriculum Astronomy 20 and Astronomy 25 course outlines have been reviewed. The Anatomy 32 course outline needs some adjustments. Rosters/No Shows/Active Enrollment Faculty will print their own rosters. Registration for the Spring, 2010 semester will continue through February 12, 2010, 11:59 p.m. Faculty are to complete the no show reports and active enrollment reports online. Faculty were asked to check their rosters to verify students have added their class(es); if a student is attending class less than 10% then faculty can drop the student. Class Syllabi Faculty were asked to send an electronic copy of their syllabi to Priscilla at pbaldwin@elcamino.edu. Office Hours Jean suggested that each faculty post their class schedule and office hours on their office door. Program Review The program review timeline has changed from 6 years to 4 years. Parking Several parking spaces were eliminated due to the widening of the corner on Manhattan Beach Bl. And Crenshaw Bl. to meet the fire department’s safety codes. 2 National Service Grant with SRC Jean sent an email asking if anyone is interested in helping with the development of the National Service Grant. Student Enhancement Team (SET) Please announce in classrooms ( MESA & STEM) Flex Activity – SLO, Core Competencies and Program Level Assessment Worksheets with core competencies and program level assessment were distributed to faculty so that they could review and rate on a scale of 0 to 4; 4 meaning “very important” during the department meetings today and they are due today (2/10/10) by 4:00 p.m. 3
