University Senate Governance Council November 20, 2006 Reed Hoyt, Chair Minutes Present: Erin Bell, Scott Birge, Richard Collier, Edward Cupoli, Heather Horton, Reed Hoyt, Sanjay Putrevu, R. Michael Range, Helen Strother Chairs report: Regarding the Presidential Search Committee: Chair Hoyt reported that a letter for the “call for nominations” to the Presidential Search Committee will go out shortly. There was discussion on the Professional slot and how that would be filled, and the search process in general. Assessment of Governance and Consultation Committee: Professor Range reported that the committee members are working on formulating a resolution to fill in clarifying details about certain things in the Bylaws. The latest version has been shortened; it will be presented to the Governance Council, before being recommended to the Senate. UNI 150 courses: Richard Collier reported that there is a certain syllabus overlap and students getting signed up for courses that have not yet been approved. The Governance Council will turn the matter over to UAC. All were in favor, one opposed, no abstentions. New Business: Chair Hoyt announced that Provost Herbst responded positively to having a Director of Intramurals on Campus.
