Welcome to 7th grade! I hope you are as excited about being in junior high!
In 7th grade geography, we are going to study the Eastern Hemisphere of the Earth. That
means we will study the continents of Europe, Asia, Africa and Australia.
This handout provides you and your parents with the information you will need to be
successful in my class. This syllabus needs to be returned signed by a parent or guardian,
and kept in your notebook as a reference.

Classroom Procedures:
Each day, every student will be expected to be in class on time and prepared for
class.
Attendance will be taken at the beginning of class.
While attendance is being taken, students work on that day’s bell assignment, or
another activity. Once complete, the entire class will go over or discuss the topic or
questions presented.
A wide range of lessons will be used during class time to cover the material. Graphic
organizers, drawings, maps, reading, lecture, discussion, projects and group work will
all be used as daily assignments.
At the conclusion of class, all students will be asked to turn in their completed work to
the appropriate basket for their hour, unless it is to be completed as homework.
Grading Scale
A = 90 – 100
B = 80 – 89
C = 70 – 79
D = 60 – 69
F = 0 - 59
The required three-ring binder is necessary for this class. This binder will serve as the portfolio for
each student for the entire year. It should always be stocked with plenty of notebook paper and dividers.
We will go over the labeling for these sections in class. Periodically, grades will be taken on these binders.

Classroom Rules:
1. Come prepared for class & ready to learn.
2. Be respectful to your teacher and your classmates.
3. Cheating will NOT be tolerated.
4. Keep your classroom clean and in order.
5. No Food or Drink in the classroom.
6. Observe all the rules in the student handbook.
If You Choose to Break a Rule
1ST TIME: Warning.
2ND TIME: One day of detention. (Parents Contacted)
3RD TIME: Two days of detention. (Parents Contacted)
4TH TIME: Referral written. Student sent to the office. (Parents Contacted)
SEVERE DISRUPTION: Student sent immediately to office.
***When there is a substitute: If your name is written down & left by a substitute, you receive 3 days of
detention and your parents will be contacted.
