Don’t judge a man until you’ve walked two moons in his moccasins.
Everyone has his own agenda.
In the course of a lifetime, what does it matter?
You can’t keep the birds of sadness from flying over your head, but you can keep them from
nesting in your hair.
We never know the worth of water until the well runs dry.
DirectionsChoose one statement to use as your first line of the poem. Add to the first line with three more lines of
your own.
Example StanzaDon’t judge a man until you’ve walked two moons in his moccasins.
She kisses trees? Giggles and whispers from sharp talkers.
Vivid memories of a blueberry stain fading away.
Will they be forgotten? Throw your hands around the maple.
Develop those next three lines with examples, reasons, and details. Use your personal experiences or
ones from the novel Walk Two Moons.
Repeat this once more, using a new statement and your own elaboration for a second stanza.
For the third stanza, either repeat the process or write your own statement of wisdom to develop.
