1. Uranus and Gaea, two of the first gods, meet and
fall in love.
2. Gaea gives birth to monsters, including hundredhanded Hecatoncheires and one-eyed Cyclopes.
3. Uranus fears his offspring, worrying that they will
overthrow him. He imprisons them in Tarturus, a
terrible place deep inside the earth,
4. Gaea hates seeing her children imprisoned, so she
turns against Uranus. She convinces her Titan son
Cronus to attack Uranus.
5. Cronus and Uranus battle fiercely.
6. Cronus is victorious and claims leadership of the
gods.
